Converting perennial forage fields into annual cropland traditionally involved a lot of tillage, depleted soil moisture and posed a soil erosion risk. Sod seeding is a no-till method whereby unwanted hay or pasture can be utilized and terminated one season, transitioning into a cash-crop or useful feed and fodder the next. Operationally, this can be helpful to integrate or maintain a livestock component, or in order to exit the system.
