Insects received their fair share of attention once again in 2007. There was a collection of the old, the new and also some of our occasional visitors to the scene. Cabbage seedpod and pea leaf weevil were the pest species responsible for greatest economic damage to Alberta cropland in 2007. Two forage crop pests continue to increase their impact: clover casebearer in the Peace and alfalfa blotch leafminer in southern Alberta. Cereal leaf beetle was confirmed in several more counties in 2007.
